Why I ask for tips

Hi, I'm Michael. Thank you for being here.
I build IngredientCalculator on my own. I registered the domain in May 2026 and have spent 5 months on it since. It now has 38 free pages: a recipe scaler, a serving size calculator, baking ratios and a cups to grams chart for 35 ingredients, with weights from USDA FoodData Central and King Arthur Baking.
What it costs each year
| Item | Per year |
|---|---|
| Domain ingredientcalculator.com (Cloudflare Registrar renewal) | $10.46 |
| Hosting on Cloudflare Pages | $0 |
| Paid data or APIs (the reference weights are free to use) | $0 |
| Total | $10.46 |
The bigger cost is my time: checking the numbers, fixing errors and adding the tools people ask for.
What tips pay for
- The domain renewal: three $5 tips cover a whole year.
- Time to re-check the gram weights against USDA FoodData Central.
- The next free tool that people ask for.
About 300 people find the site on Google each month, so if 3 of them tip $5, the domain is paid for the year. A single $5 tip covers about five months of it.
Tips unlock nothing, and everyone gets the same tool.
Prefer monthly? On Buy Me a Coffee you can tick “Make this monthly”. You can cancel at any time.
PayPal shows my legal name, Michał Lip.
This is a tip, not a purchase. You get nothing extra, and you owe nothing. The site stays free either way.
The use count on this site stays in your browser. I never see it.
Thank you. — Michael
